Big Sound - preparation for next year.

One of the biggest lessons that I have learnt from Big Sound 2022 was that I was woefully unprepared. There were people there who were doing deals and creating opportunities. I was very much an observer. Sometimes that is the purpose and I don’t regret going. But I had very little to offer in comparison to what I saw around me. I even ran out of energy before the end of the event and missed a lot of really good live music.

So, preparation for next year. Today I started walking again, which may not seem like preparation for a music conference but I want to be at my physical best so that I can last the time I want to last to get the most out of the event. The first step.

The next 2 weeks I have a holiday from University and I am making some big picture decisions that will affect the next 5-10 years of my life. The first question is do I want to get involved with the Metaverse opportunities. I am still confused by it all but I know that there are good things ahead with it. I really need to figure out my boundaries with it as here are some aspects that I am not comfortable about. I am not sure if that is a misinterpretation or a conflict with my core values.

I have already documented my core values in my, current, business plan so the big picture question for that is how do turn those core values into practices. This will form the basis of the company philosophy and brand.

Who are the people that I want to work with and what are the qualities that I am looking for in them. I know that no-one is perfect but there are certain character flaws that I cannot accept for the core people of my business.

The hard thing up until now has been to separate potential from character. I have always tried to see the best in people and as such have invested more into them than they have invested in themselves. I know that this has to change and I must seek out the people that are investing in themselves and then add my talents to them.

More big picture thoughts over the next 2 weeks.
